Only Call Trained Technicians to Service Today’s Complex Heating and AC Systems

Today’s furnaces and AC systems are safer and sturdier than they have ever been before. But this does not make them any easier to service. In fact, the opposite is true. When you need any amount of service for your HVAC systems, you should always choose a highly trained technician with plenty of experience so that the most complex components stay in the best condition possible. Here’s why.

Sizing

Long ago, homeowners just had to accept that their heating and cooling equipment may be short-lived. But today, as long as you get a system that is properly installed and sized and regularly maintained, your heating and cooling systems should last for well over a decade with regular usage. One of the most neglected steps of the installation process, however, is proper sizing, and this can have a major effect on the lifespan of the system, whether it is too big or too small.

Safety Switches

One of the major benefits of new heating and cooling systems is the array of safety switches within them. Especially in gas heating systems, safety switches help to prevent gas leaks, carbon monoxide leaks, fires, high pressure, and wasted energy or gas. But these safety switches are just one more thing that makes it difficult for the average technician to service them. One faulty safety switch can cause the entire system to shut down, and it may be difficult for someone with no experience to pin down the faulty part.

Delicate Parts

Often, the components of your air conditioning and heating systems are rather delicate. For example, the metal component of the hot surface ignition system of many furnaces has a lifespan of about 5 years. But it is so delicate that the oils of your hands can wear it down and reduce this lifespan. Likewise, the coils of your outdoor AC unit are sensitive, and minor kinks can greatly decrease efficiency. Call in professionals to make sure all of the components of your system get handled properly.
